As a starting point for painting I take my inspiration mostly from places and people. The narrative power of the content is also a source of inspiration and I am often drawn to images which offer a certain degree of ambiguity.
My trajectory to becoming an artist has been a circuitous one - initially disillusioned by what the art schools had to offer, I exchanged the practical artistic pursuits for academic ones, completing a Masters Degree in the History of Art at Trinity College Dublin. Following this came a career in the world of digital media where I worked primarily as an interactive designer. Having moved to the Netherlands, I finally found the school that could teach me what I wanted to learn. I graduated from the Ruudt Wackers Academie in 2009, under the mentorship of Sam Drukker.
