Paint tubes oil on panel 18 x 24 cm

Bairbre creates contemporary still lives, portraits and landscapes. She often works on a small scale or with pared down subjects – fruit, flowers in a vase, a rose, or bunch of tulips. Her paintings are essentially expressive meditations on tone and colour.

Bairbre’s work has been selected for many juried shows, including the Royal Hibernian Academy Summer Exhibition in Dublin (2012, 2021, 2022, 2023). She has also been twice shortlisted for the Dutch Portrait Prize and the Royal Talens Painting Award, (2019, 2021) and has been awarded residencies in Cill Rialaig and Listowel, Ireland. She is a member of  the Nederlands Portretschap and Visual Artists Ireland. Her work hangs in public and private collections worldwide.

Bairbre studied at the Wackers Academie, Amsterdam, where she now teaches drawing and painting. Prior to this, she gained an M.Phil. in Visual and Textual Studies at Université Paris VII and Trinity College Dublin, and studied Visual Arts at Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design, Dublin.

Bairbre runs workshops and masterclasses in the Netherlands and Ireland, and is available to give private one to one and group lesson.
