Dutch Portrait Society Biennale

Hi everyone,

Just a couple of weeks to go until the 2026 edition of the Portret Biennale of the Nederlands Portretschap! I'm excited to share with you the official invitation and programme of events. It really is going to be an super exhibition with a great selection of guest exhibitors. We take the idea of portraiture very broadly at the Portrait Society: and as you will see all our exhibitors concern themselves with portraying people in one way or another.

Of course, it will be lovely to see you at the opening, which will be opened by Özcan 'Eus' Akyol, or maybe drop by at another quieter time during the exhibition.

The opening will also feature music by the Huiskamerband (a super talented musical trio dedicated to bringing music to places where it is not always found). Full disclosure: the fiddler and singer in this band is my son, Roghan!

As usual, there will be portrait workshops at specific times, some exhibition tours and new this year is a wine tasting session (see flyer or website for more details). Why not come along to the Symposium on the final day of the exhibition, where the topic for discussion will be “The artist’s compass: the role of the artist in a divided society”. The language for the symposium will be predominantly Dutch

I will be exhibiting a mix of recent commissions and some autonomous portrait and figure work. If you would like to meet me in person, I’ll be present at the opening, the finissage and you'll be sure to find me there on Saturday and Sunday (although I will be doing bar duty for some of that time)

If you would like to meet at the exhibition at another time, please let me know and I will do my best to be there. You can contact me by mail bairbredug@gmail.com or at my mobile: +31 630346098

Here is one of the recent portraits you will be able to see at the exhibition: "Boet", 20 x 25 cm, oil on panel

Keep the creative sparks burning!

Bairbre
